What to wear to your photoshoot?

So you are planning on getting your photos taken as a couple… Whether that’s for your engagement session, an anniversary or just to celebrate your relationship and invest in having this chapter of your life documented, I know you’re already getting nervous about one thing: what to wear.

There are a ton of factors that go into choosing what to wear and I know it can be tough to decide which outfit will look best.

So today, I decided to share with you my go-to tips!

01. WEAR SOMETHING YOU’RE COMFORTABLE IN

Wear something that makes you feel like yourself, not what you think you have to wear, or anything brand new or fancy. Casual is good! Some of the best photos are taken with jeans on and a simple tee! Go for it if that’s what you’re comfortable in.

02. ALLOW FOR MOVEMENT

I like to have movement in my photos. So do a lot of photographers. So this means that we will be asking you to move around a lot. I always advise my couples to wear something that can move with them, it always look good in photos!

03. CONSIDER THE LOCATION

The best is to wear something that makes sense for the location and terrain. The goal is to fit in the environment you shoot at, we do not want to look out of place!

04. COLORS

The secret is to wear colors that photograph well. My go-to are earth tones and neutral colors that aren’t too bold or distracting. I always tell my couples that they can text me some of the choices they’re considering and that we’ll figure out what looks best for our shoot! Don’t hesitate to reach out to your photographer if you’re not sure!

05. CONSIDER THE LOCATION AND SEASON

It’s important to consider how the colors you wear are gonna compliment the colors of the environment you and your photographer are gonna shoot at, without causing you to blend in or get lost in the landscape.

06. PATTERNS

Stay away from any bold or distracting patterns, and rather opt for minimal, smaller patterns. This will look so much better in photos, I promise!

07. COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER

Complementing each other is KEY. And by that, I mean coordinate without ‘matching’. Go for the same color palette and you’ll be safe 🙂

08. AVOID DISTRACTIONS

Accessories are nice but I typically advise against certain types of accessories like big watches. ALSO, big one: steer clear of logos.

09. ACCESSORIES

Yes to hats, scarves, jackets, etc. It makes photos interesting and add a little TADA to the images.

10. BRING LOTS OF OPTIONS!

It’s best to bring a lot of options! Take everything that you like with you and ask your photographer to help you piece together outfit options if you need help.

I hope this helped!!! 🙂
